its not just long haul...
its not just long haul, I just booked an intra-europe one-way award for a friend with AB Topbonus instead of LH because of this ridiculous scam.

15000 miles one-way + roughly 120 euros in taxes and fees
OR
15000 miles one way + 18000 miles to replace taxes and fees = 33000 miles for a NEK experience!

Airberlin cost me 17000 miles with no taxes and fees.
