Well to answer my own question and provide VDB comp data:

Got $800 VDB for a bump to a 2 hr later on a intl Caribbean flight from MIA oversold by 5 I believe.

Then my rebooked later flight was delayed causing a misconnect for my return due to same day turnaround on my MR. No rebooking options without an overnight so I got them to rebook me to a new city with a valid same day turn schedule for more miles. No J upgrades but EXPd them anyway since Carib isn't swu.

I don't think that I would have been able to change my destination without the delay on the rebooked flight. That made me an INVOL so no change fee for the full reissue.

I didn't suggest trip in vain since I needed the miles to requal for sure and didn't want to chance it with Orc and customer service.

All in all it worked out perfect and I love having $800 more.
