If you are currently PLT and that status is good through 2/28/14, then you should be eligible to buy the renewal back up to PLT for $1199.

Whether you should buy back up versus fall down to GLD is another question. How much do you anticipate flying on AA in 2014? and how much of that flying will occur in January and February (when you'd be PLT anyway) versus later in the year?
