Many of us (myself included) have limited time and resources available as well. Please understand that this is not a collective cavalier attitude; it represents hundreds, if not thousands, of combined trips by us on many of these same routes. If you want a low fare and a seat reservation, book the €49 fare now, and the seat reservation later. I'm not sure what the issue with going this route is -- you said you would prefer not to, but other than being generally anxious have given no good reason so. The only thing you will potentially miss on out by waiting to book both together is the cheaper fare. Once seat reservations become available, you will be able to go back and get one at a later date very easily.

I was under the impression that it was 90, not 60 days.
OK, fine, but I would hate to return to that site a month from now, only to be told that I still can't reserve a seat.
On your Munich-Berlin route, unless you're traveling with the consulting army (Sunday night/Monday morning or Thursday night/Friday morning), there will be seats available for reservation up until the time of departure once they come online. Visitors just like you take millions of uneventful journeys every year; relax, there's nothing to worry about three months in advance of a low point in the travel season.

Edit: Aaaand Aviatrix basically wrote my post for me.
