depends on your citcumstances.

for tourist visas, if you are an Australian citizen and have not had a Chinese tourist visa before you will be limited to a single or double entry visa.

the new rules are supposed to limit multi-entry tourist visas (which can only be applied for after you have received a previous single or double entry visa). There is little information on this as yet.
