I certainly agree the J seat is wide, but otherwise I would have to disagree that there is not any real advantage. Our infant slept three hours SIN-NRT in the bassinet recently and that meant for half the flight we could watch a movie, get up and stretch, have a meal without having to physically hold the baby. That's great relief.

Btw, when baby is screaming, we do not just leave the baby in the bassinet. I don't know many parents who would just let their kid keep screaming in the bassinet.
