Hmmm, No real advantage of the bassinet when flying SQ J. The seat is so wide, there is loads of room for baby beside parent. Also when seatbelt sign is on baby is not meant to be in bassinet so parent has to remove (which probably wakes up) sleeping baby each time the light comes on (and SQ are very trigger happy with this). Also bassinet are often cramped so many babies will prefer to be beside the parent where there is more space and they feel safer, which makes them more likely to sleep rather than scream.
I say don't worry about the bassinet, especially on SQ J
