Wine List
Champagne
Taittinger Comtes De Champagne
Blanc De Blancs 2000
Inimitable, irresistible and arresting. Comtes de Champagne holds an enviable place among the finest blanc de blancs on the planet. Intricately spun mineral texture is toned by rumbling depths of silky softness and crystalline assertiveness. A high-pitched harmony of vibrant lemon and white peach is touched with enchanting wisps of gunsmoke and flint.
Pol Roger
Sir Winston Churchill 2000
Pol Roger's mandate of desperately precise, intricately delicate and flawlessly pristine champagne is epitomised in Sir Winston Churchill. As sophisticated and polished as the great man himself, this ultra-refined champagne sings with a deeply-penetrating chalk mineral texture and an elegant tension between youthful white peach and the roast nut nuances of maturity.
White Wine
Leeuwin Estate Art Series Chardonnay 2009
Margaret River, Western Australia
Awarded 97 points in James Halliday's
www.winecompanion.com.au. This 2009 is Australian chardonnay at its finest, it's an absolute joy to drink. Leeuwin's Art Series chardonnay is an explosive mouthful of concentrated, creamy Margaret River chardonnay enhanced with excellent oak.
Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Riesling 2010
Frankland River, Western Australia
This Riesling is consistently ranked amongst the best in Australia and has won widespread critical acclaim. "94 Points. Pale straw-green; it has a shy, floral bouquet with hints of spice and apple, then a beautifully structured, supremely delicate, palate; unfolds on the finish and aftertaste with mouthwatering, citrusy acidity" - James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au
Clonakilla Semillon Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Canberra District, New South Wales
Clonakilla is a small, family winery dedicated to making distinctive, handcrafted wines. Tim Kirk is the winemaker and scientist Dr John Kirk, his father, was the founder. The wines are made in limited quantities and can be a little hard to find. They are definitely worth the search. 2011's long, cool ripening period resulted in intense flavours at lower sugar levels. This wine carries a zesty aroma of citrus fruits and honeydew melon. A bright, light, refreshing palate with a crisp finish.
Red Wine
SC Pannell Shiraz Grenache 2008
McLaren Vale, South Australia
Winemaker and current Qantas wine consultant Stephen Pannell made a great name for himself with Hardy's iconic McLaren Vale reds. A Rhone-inspired juicy, though structured red. The flavor is rich, combining youthful blackberry fruit and savoury butchers-block elements, while the tannins, though firm and dry, leave the wine well balanced.
Serrat Pinot Noir 2011
Yarra Valley, Victoria
Serrat is the Yarra Valley vineyard of Qantas Wine Panel member Tom Carson and his wife Nadege Sune. Planted at four times the usual density (Serrat is a Catalonian word meaning high density planting), each vine produces just one bottle each vintage. Notes of sweet pipesmoke, bouquet garni and dried herbs define an exotic, savoury and textural pinot of finely structured tannin grip.
Howard Park Abercrombie Cabernet Sauvignon 2009
Great Southern, Western Australia
Howard Park is amongst the top producers in West Australia's Margaret River region, an area famed for world class cabernet sauvignon and chardonnay. The Abercrombie is their icon cabernet and is made with fruit from both Margaret River and Great Southern regions. A powerful cabernet with layers of fine grained tannins. 96 points. James Halliday.
Dessert Wine
Mount Horrocks Cordon Cut Riesling 2011
Clare Valley, South Australia
