If you would prefer using a BX1A Award which is imminently expiring, and usually fly our of Southern Califonia: what to do: Hawaii is not eligible, other flights usually taken / needed are not available in any decent combination nor dates. AA said make reservation than call to redeem the Award--but when you do AA tells you that day nor anywhere soon is really not available for BX1A. Very frustrating.
