There would not be time to leave the airport. If I was going to take a long detour , I would be more inclined to take Emirates YYZ-DXB-SYD where they are offering the A380 service , plus get the chauffeur drive services ( and seems to be cheapest business class from YYZ )

Looking at lowest fares, it does seem that Cathay is about an extra $1000 over Qantas

I would still be checking with the person paying, that agreeing not to travel economy does mean that they will pay for business rather than just premium economy
