Planning on renting a car at PHX and returning it to LAX. Avis's site doesn't allow vehicles in the Intermediate SUV or Luxury category to be rented one-way, so looking at Premium sedan or Standard SUV. When doing a dummy reservation, the description of Standard SUV said Ford Edge or equivalent, but when I found a car guide chart for Avis, it showed Chevy Trailblazer as Standard SUV. Edge would be fine for us, but Trailblazer too large. I realize no vehicle is guaranteed, but wondered what others have gotten in the Standard SUV category. Usually 2-wheel drive, or AWD or 4WD?

Reason we're considering Premium sedan is that my wife likes leather seats, which Premium cars often (not always) have. I assume Standard SUV may not. When doing a roundtrip rental a vehicle in the Luxury category from Avis at LAX we got a Volvo SUV, which was quite nice and has leather seats, but vehicles in that category are listed as unavailable for one-way rentals at any location I've checked. Maybe we could get one by asking upon arrival??
