If possible, book Air India. I flew BOS-AMS-BOM-CCU, and AI honored the allowance of the "major carrier" as printed on their website for DL. AFAIK, Jet has no such rule, but I would have the tickets issued on the same 006 ticket so it's all one itinerary and you can show them as such.
