Last year, I wanted to make a booking for two of us, for business class from Incheon to Perth Australia.

But I had to make it through 2 separate Aeroplan accounts - not enough Aeroplan miles in one account to handle the bookings for 2 passengers.

The Aeroplan web site, just like their award display on their computer, defaults to a limited number of availabilities - perhaps 6.

So the agent first looked at availability for 2 bookings together - my flights were listed as the 6th and the final one on the list.

Then he looked at availability for one booking separately - it was not listed as one of the 6. More checking, and he figured out that the computers are configured to display on the first 6 bookings (obviously, there is less availability with 2 passenger bookings than with 1 passenger booking; so the 6th listing with the 2 passenger booking may be much higher up on the list with the 1 passenger booking).

He had to deal with a supervisor - but he eventually was able to deal with the IT glitch, and give me my desired 2 bookings. Because of this issue, he waived the Aeroplan agent's booking fee!
