OP, I think what folks are trying to say is that you may find service breaks on most airlines and that switching carriers due to one poor experience has led them on a merry-go-round of carrier switching.

Then again, I have learned from my wife and sister that such emotionally based decision-making is common and there's nothing intrinsically wrong with it, it's just suboptimal. And there's nothing wrong with living a suboptimal life. mherdeg knows what I'm talking about.

Let us know if UA customer service gets back to you after your complaint. Mistakes happen at every company. It's what they do after mistakes happen that is the measure of the company.
How is my choice to avoid United make for a suboptimal life in any way? The flights that I did take on United were certainly suboptimal. There are plenty of other choices for airlines.

I fly enough and have had far better experiences elsewhere. This wasn't my first flight.

If this were a forum about restaurants, who would think that a cold and damp main dishes and frozen sandwiches were acceptable? Just because I am also jammed into a tiny seat for over 14 hours with crappy service, then it is O.K. to also give me crappy food?

I've had poor coach meals on pretty much all airlines I've flown. Luck of the draw.
Bad, sure, but frozen?

Another thing to add is that they also ran out of all juices early on in the SFO -> HKG flight. I've seen it happen near the end of a flight, but never so early in a flight. There was no orange juice. There was no cranberry juice. When I asked if there were other juices I was offered ginger ale. I saw that there was milk and asked for milk, but was told that I could not have any because the milk was for coffee drinkers. F that!! Frozen and cold food and nothing I wanted when the beverage cart came by. I forgot all about the drink situation until just now.

Another thing that happend on the HKG -> SFO flight home is that I said out loud to my wife that I should submit a complaint because they served cold food and she agreed. A couple of minutes later two male flight attendants rammed their drink cart into the back of her aisle seat. One of them giggled "bad drivers" and they continued down the aisle. The bump was hard enough that I felt it in my middle seat. I do not know if it was a coincidence or if they overheard me.
