Y should have had a meal service immediately after departing from HKG- we did when I flew SFO-HKG r/t in Y a little while. OP, are you sure there wasn't a meal service after departure? Could you have fallen asleep when it happened, and then woken up for midflight snacks? That flight usually also has a breakfast service 90 mins out from SFO...
