not sure, but it sounds like this is the first time the OP is traveling outside the US. Spending $1/minute for phone calls is nothing you won't get reimbursed; ever heard of Skype? It is pretty much free you know

AF is very generous paying for items you have to buy because of missing luggage; some of my nicer dress shirts were paid by AF

About 100 EUR a day is very reasonable to ask for. Luggage will be repaired or replaced that's for sure; I hope there is good documentation of the damage.
Since the OP resides in the US Delta will take care of all the claims even if submitted through the AF system (this is how theft from my luggage was dealt with last year on AF); Delta was very generous in my case and I was quite happy with the resolution they gave me.
OP, calm down, keep your receipts and submit everything once you are back home ... this will be a walk in the park.
