FrancisA whilst covering some very good points misses the most important which is the choice of tonic, given it makes up 2/3rds of the drink. My own preference is for FeverTree though yet to see an airline serve it (if anyone knows of one then I'd be happy to switch my allegiance!)

Additionally I'm a fan of lime rather than lemon in my drink....
