My friend did not need a gate pass. Turns out TSA will let you in to either terminal with a same day BP from any airline. He just explained to the TSA podium agent that he was joining me at the Delta Sky Club. Moral of the story is not to speculate. I was just hoping someone knew the answer from actually doing this to avoid an unnecessary trip for my friend. Fortunately, the trip was not in vain.
