Why wouldn't cc insurance cover purchased flight passes. You can always contact the insurance provider for the cc trip insurance and clarify.
There is an entire sets of procedures when claiming on insurance, that is not written into the terms and conditions.
It probably depends on the particular insurance policy that comes with the credit card.
I had tried to buy On My Way in conjunction with a Flight Pass and was refused. OMW is not available to FP and not sure why. OMW is also unavailable to Rouge bookings.
