What worked for me on my most recent QR flight was booking a 45-min connection time ex-LHR Haha!

Bit tongue in cheek - but actually I ended up having a really great (if unplanned) stopover in Doha. First plane took off late due to heavy air traffic leaving LHR so missed connection at DOH and next plane wasn't until 24 hours later. QR were very good and gave me a stopover with really nice hotel, airport transfers, sorted my visa out plus 50 GBP worth of food vouchers (even though I was travelling in Y). They even pulled my checked luggage and delivered to hotel later on. Well played QR ^
