My 1K status posted to my account at about 1pm today and my GPUs deposited around 10pm.

Just booked & upgraded to BF on my Newark to Europe and back legs.

Purchased W Fares
7/14 EWR-TXL 767
8/5 TXL-BRU-EWR 777 (Berlin to Brussels on SN and obviously not upgraded)

4 minutes after booking was ticketed/confirmed in Y and then went and applied my GPUs to EWR-TXL and BRU-EWR which were upgraded instantly. Both flights had R9 when checking Fare Class original booking.
