Also for no YQ, consider going with BR B773ER from LAX/SFO via TPE in Royal Laurel J and then head to SYD/MEL via SQ in J(if you can find it).
Fly CA only on their B773ER from LAX to PEK, otherwise you get the crappy older F/J products.
To Europe, TK LAX to IST is nice as mentioned. LO (B787) and SN (A332 ok seat, good food) have little/no YQ from ORD and JFK heading to Europe (WAW/BRU). MK as well but they are dry(seat not so great). LX J is nice, but impossible to find from west coast.
For US carriers you only have UA (ugh!) and US (J seat is ok) to choose from.
Don't waste your time with Aeroplan online unless you want only a simple routing. Use UA "Saver" space awards to find flight availability and then call Aeroplan to book those flights seen on the UA website. Yes, it will cost you to call them.
