Venture is good for cash back on travel related purchases, but it may not be the best in that category (I do have one). If you want points for travel, then you might want to consider something else - there are some very good offers on other cards - but it depends on who you fly.
Thanks for the info I will give his blog a read. To answer your other points I generally use all of my points for either Hilton hotel or for US Air flights. Have a trip to Denver and a trip to Las Vegas scheduled for next year so that is my focus now. I already used CSP last year for a NOLA trip so I doubt I can grab that card again any time soon as I had it downgraded. I also have had the US Air card twice and currently also have the Hilton AmEx.
