Enterprise - Avoid at all costs

I am a regular car rental guy and hire out quite a few cars.
Just had a really bad experience with Enterprise at Luton airport UK, and would like to share my experience with other people and warn them not to make the same mistake.

Normally I go for Avis or Eurocar but saw a deal for a 2 day hire of a basic car from Enterprise and I thought I would give them a go, big mistake!

I was given the car, went through the normal paperwork procedure and was shown around the car, sign here, sign there and the guy even offered to drive the car out of the lot to open ground, very good so far.

Well the fun and games started when I got back to the desk at Enterprise, I parked up and one of the guys did the once over and reported a problem with the tyre.

To my amazement he found a small nick in the tyre which you literally had to get on your hands and knees to view. He calmly reported that he would be taking my deposit to cover the damage, what damage I said?

When I took the car originally we had a 30 second run around the car and the car was being driven off.

Now, many will be thinking well you must of hit a pot hole or something like that but no, the car was driven carefully, parked up over night on a private drive and then driven back to the Enterprise desk so I thought there were no issues with the car.

I suppose the morale of the story here is simple, 1st, don't bother with Enterprise full stop but second, if you do have the misfortune to find you have booked a car with them at Luton, log every mark, scratch, dent no matter how small it is other wise you will be billed when you get back.

I feel quite strongly about this and class myself as an honest guy; if the car had been damaged in any way I would think OK that is fair enough but the fact is nothing happened to the car and this is really annoying.

You have been warned

I will be taking the matter further with them, I would appreciate any thoughts and comments on what my best move here is from anyone who has gone through a similar experience

Thanks, not a happy driver any more!
