I tried that at the beginning of this year and they will not match another Start Alliance carrier, I guess that may change now that US is leaving the alliance. I'm not sure which will be better in the long run, I'm currently CP on US Air and MVP 75k on Alaska which gets me (some) benefits on Delta and AA, I just don't want to switch mid-year and split the miles.
