But I have to admit that I haven't stayed at any other Shanghai Marriotts (or the JW Hong Kong). So I can't really compare the JW's lounge to theirs.
Having been to the JW's in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong in the last month, I can offer the following observations:
Food-wise, the JW HK wins hands down. Though Shanghai was pretty good too. Beijing's menu did not change often enough.
But if we're talking about breakfast, then the selection at the JW Shanghai (in the lobby, not the lounge) bests the rest.
View-wise, I would say the JW Shanghai wins by a whisker over the JW HK, because there are a lot more window seats. Plus, you also have a great view of the highway, which is illuminated in blue light at night.
Service-wise, again the JW Shanghai beats the HK. With very few exceptions, the staff came over asking if we wanted refills. Also, the staff was super friendly and would usually ask what we wanted to drink once we entered the lounge.
Because the lounge in HK is spread over 2 floors, it makes difficult for the staff to come and ask of you want a refill. They do, however, offer a daily cocktail, and then serve them to you at your table , which the other 2 JW's do not.
One things all JW's did have was top-shelf liquor, though I was a little surprised that none of them offered any "brand-name" wines or bubbles. I found them to be sub-par for the most part (the same blah Austrian white was found in all 3 JW's) and stuck to the liquor. Even a simple bottle of Beringer or Gallo would have been welcome!
