I am sorry you were offended, this was not meant as a slur against Marriott or your former colleagues at the front desk (though I have my complaints with that part of the operation, too). But let's face it - these days the industry is comprised of many front line employees who are not highly paid, and IME many who are non-native English speakers. You get what you pay for.
I was just coming back to delete (or at least heavily edit) my post...was early and was before my first coffee of the day and I overreacted and you too have my apology

unfortunately DND is a catch twenty two - guests often times forget to remove the DND, guests could have purposely left it on and honestly there are times guests are in distress....In my past I've seen the housekeeping team left scratching their head because the DND sign was sticking 1/2 way out from underneath the door and they weren't sure if it had fallen.....


the hotel needs to balance all of this (plus many other factors) to decide exactly what to do....
