Last week I got two separate emails from Le Meridien Khao Lak and Le Meridien Siem Reap saying I was required (they used the word compulsory) in both cases to pay for dinners the hotels are hosting on Christmas eve and New Year's Eve. They are expensive, one is the night before we are due to leave and also not they kind of things I like to do on vacation, not to mention that I don't celebrate Christmas! They also seem like dishonest, hidden charges to me- I certainly wasn't told about them when I booked the hotel months ago nor was there any information about either of them on the hotels' websites.
Have others in this situation been able to skip the dinner and the charge?
Should I write the hotels? Keep my mouth shut?

You will be paying for the dinners for however many guests are registered to your room. Whether or not you eat the food is up to you........
