Depended, perhaps, on the skill of the pilots? On NW's DC-10 retirement flight NW 98 (linked from elsewhere in this thread and with their chief DC-10 pilot & head DC-10 instructor at the controls), we didn't even notice when the wheels hit the runway on landing.
