The DC-10s were good

The DC-10 always seemed spacious inside. High ceilings, and yes, shaking luggage bins on many landings, just like the L-1011.

Western Airlines served the infamous Volcano Punch (steaming with dry ice), along with free JFJ champagne on their HNL bound DC-10s.

The long haul DC-10-30 looked like it had training wheels when you looked at the middle undercarriage. Flew the NW (IAD-AMS) and WA (DEN-LGW) model 30 quite often back in the 1980s and 90s.

Of course AA had quite a few too, many on routes to HNL. Big silver birds. If I recall correctly those aircraft were leased to Hawaiian Airlines prior to their bankruptcy. The DC-10 was a lot better than the single aisle 737s and 757s we now see on many of the HNL routes. Ugh!
