Well, I kinda liked the old DC-10, especially in first class. My front cabin roundtrip flights on board the big trijet (DC-10-10, DC-10-30 and DC-10-40 models depending on the airline and specific flight) included....

American (AA): LAX-JFK (three class transcon service), LAX-HNL, LAX-ORD, LAX-DFW, DFW-SJU, DFW-AUS, ORD-BOS

Continental (CO): LAX-HNL (three class with an intl. cabin service standard as the flight was continuing on to or coming from Australia), LAX-IAH, LAX-DEN

National (NA): IAH-MSY

Northwest (NW): LAX-HNL, LAX-MSP, MEM-AMS (one of the last intl. flights flown by NW with the DC-10 featuring their first/biz hybrid front cabin offering)

United (UA): LAX-HNL, LAX-OGG, LAX-ORD

There may be other flights I took on the DC-10 as well; however, the above list is fairly representative....

Also, an old buddy of mine began his career with United as a Flight Engineer on the DC-10 progressing to First Officer on the airplane before transitioning to the B737 as a Captain (he now flies the B757/B767). His comments concerning the DC-10: "I loved that big old bucket of bolts with the steam gauges. And the old girl never let me down....".

As for the MD-11, I flew Swissair (SR) in business class a couple of times and also a number of times on Delta (DL) in biz class as well. I enjoyed all of these MD-11 flights in J.....
