I have not stayed there, but I just wanted you to be sure that you knew that Shenzhen is not Hong Kong and will require a visa to go across the border from Hong Kong into Mainland China.

If you are interested in an alternative location to Hong Kong, you could always try Macau, where at least you won't need a visa, and there are other things to see, unlike most of Shenzhen.
