And Haneda of course means "feather field" -- the place name predating its selection as an airport site.

My favorite place name in Japan is Shiojiri, a city in Nagano, which literally means "salt arse." Apparently it got this name because it's so high in the mountains that it's the last place where peddlers could sell their sea salt before running out of stock.
