Often at outstations, check-in staff may work on a shift which sees them scheduled to finish prior to the flight departure - therefore it's likely the desks will close at the original time.
+1, unfortunately. Not being there on time would expose you to your reservation being cancelled regardless of the expected departure time. On a brighter note, for all you know, they may have planned an alternative arrangement for you such as putting you on the earlier flight if there are seats and it is also delayed or even on an alternative airline/routing.
