Talking Direct tranlations of Japan's prefectures' names into English

Japanese twitter users are playing creatively with the names of the places in Japan. They've translated the names using the core meanings of the kanjis. For example, To/kyo 東/京 East/capital. I find it interesting and think tourists may be interested, too.

Tokyo: east capital
Kyoto: capital capital
Aichi: love know
Fukuoka: good luck hill
Yamanashi: mountain pear
Hiroshima: large island
Tochigi: horse chestnut tree
