Its ridiculous in the UK though, even the Platinum card has foreign transaction fees and just about every other issuer in the UK has no foreign transaction fee cards even Amex networked cards issued by other banks.

Agreed, they must make a lot of money off it - or they'd remove it. Clearly though there is a level they remove it at (the annual fee for Plat makes it go away).
Won't affect all who care - but I wish they'd remove it for Starwood Platinum customers at least. They can even combine with a min annual spend to remove (and credit us back when we hit it).
