I think Gatwick is a pretty decent airport - Fast Track works well, but even without it, the security queues are never that long - the investment in security has really paid off. The lounge is ok, I wouldn't say it's any worse than the Galleries at Heathrow, which I'm never particularly impressed by. Short stay parking is very convenient to the terminal and transport links are far better than at Heathrow - at least you can take the train without getting completely ripped off (unless of course you don't know any better and take the Gatwick Express). The only really bad thing about Gatwick is the ridiculous trek across the airbridge to th 100 gates, and thankfully BA seems to be using them less these days.
