Well, I finally got on the standby list at SIN this morning, and all looked good.... but when I got to Narita the gate agent said they had to move up two people who were overbooked in J on other flights (ATL and DTW) and to take my coach seat. Never hearing of any airline overbooking J, I stood my ground, called the Diamond desk, and quickly found a sympathetic agent.

Long story short, after running between the ga and the supervisor while on the phone with SLC for 30 minutes, im now sitting pretry in seat 7C for NRT-SFO and am first for four seats SFO-JFK with the correct Up2A coding.

A hectic mess, but a satisfactory ending. An extra four hours in BE is better than 12 hours in coach.
