Actually, it reads like a downgrade. What this about only 2 points for Choice Hotel stays that are non-point-eligible? So if I charge incidentals on a rewards stay (which is not point-earning eligible) that card will only earn my 2 points instead of 5? So I choose to earn miles (in which case I'm not point-earning eligilbe), that card will figure it out and will only earn my 2 points instead of 5?

Or are they just talking about countries in which all the hotels are non-point-eligible, like Japan and Norway???
