I've got a trip coming up with 4 flight segments (mix of UA and Copa flights) where I need to check a few bags, but I'm always nervous when I have that 4th segment which results in an extra (conjunctive) checked baggage tag...I always feel like it adds to the potential for the bag getting lost or delayed (and I've had it happen before). I know I could potentially short check it to an intermediate city along the way, but that's a hassle and risky if there is a re-route and I'm not there to re-check the bags.

For those frequent bag checkers out there, how's your luck been lately with these triple plus connections (with the extra bag tag)?? I don't have tight connections so that's at least working in my favor...first time on Copa though...
