Yup, but they didn't offer something online, remove it and then tell the customer it wasn't their fault.

No, I'm not assuming that. I'm operating based solely on the facts. The fact is that it is available online today for free and tomorrow it won't be. And yet UA still says that's the consumer's fault and will force passengers to pay, even though United is making the change. Whether they were forced to by SQ or not doesn't enter into my calculations there.
