No I did not but frankly I did not feel like getting into an argument at 6am. My experience with KL staffers is that they are polite enough professionals unless challenged; in which case they rarely back down in this sort of situation.

Some clarification from KLM on what the policy is should be made explicit on their website. Unless I am mistaken the special provision for AMS-CDG routes used to be on their fare class page but I can no longer find it. Hence my initial question on whether the policy had changed.
