I think Lau Pa Sat is closed now for renovation. Anyway, I went there for lunch before renovation and wasn't impressed. If you are into this kind of street / fight for tables / outdoor hawker food experience, go ahead though.

At Suntec, which is opposite Conrad, you also have Food Republic which is a "civilised" version of hawker centre or shall I say food court. And as aster mentioned, it is hard to beat their branch @313 Somerset.
