In a few weeks, I'll have my family with me on a 2-day stopover in SIN. It's been several years since my last visit. Before SIN, we'll be in Malaysia and Indonesia, so I expect to be "shocked" by prices in SIN. That said, I recall the hawker stands are pretty darn good, so my guess is we'll be quite happy eating at a couple of these. I see a lot of references to Lau Pa Sat; is that better than other hawker stands, or just a popular one? We're staying at the Conrad (on points, of course), so I'd be particularly interested in any hawker recommendations within walking distance of that hotel.
