I understand that airline staff use Timatic to understand the Visa rules. It is mentioned that Timatic has mention of the 72 hour rule. However, using the following link (http://www.staralliance.com/en/servi...sa-and-health/), or a similiar link from United, there is no mention.

This is quite concerning to me, as I do not want to have any issues on my flight to China, and I am seriously considering paying $140 for the regular tourist visa. Am I filling out that form incorrectly, have the rules recently changed, or is the system not up to date?
