around midnight I heard an announcement for the USO that said it was open 24 hrs ... it was fairly crowded with young servicemen since there was an AMC charter departing for Yokota at 730, but I was able to find a seat in the darkened TV room (where the TV was actually off) and slept reasonably well until the staff members came around waking folks up at 4 when the AMC counter opened

got back to sleep until about 6, bought a $25 one-visit pass to the SkyClub, took a shower, changed clothes, had some juice and oatmeal and a self-service cappuccino, and went to the gate for my next flight

I'm a retired O-5 and this was the first time I have ever set foot in a USO ... yes I left a generous donation in the jar at the front desk, and yes I will very likely take advantage of this facility again
you probably just missed me. I'm there on Wednesdays from 8pm-midnight. The night before the AMC flights are always a madhouse. There is a bunkroom that you can use to nap horizontally for up to 4 hours next time you pass through.
