Getting a J award to the South Pacific on any airline program is going to be hard, be per-paired to fly some sectors in Y.
You could try something like this,
JFK-LAX-SYD (DL)
SYD-AKL (NZ or VA)
AKL-PPT (TN or NZ)
PPT-LAX (TN)
LAX-JFK (DL)
Would require separate bookings to make it work and PPT is only a couple times a week to LAX and AKL.
You could be best at look at getting a DL reward JFK-LAX-SYD-AKL-SYD-LAX-JFK and just purchase AKL-PPT-AKL offten on sale very reasonable.
