Unfortunately you're into sub- 14 day advance notice territory so they will charge you handsomely to fly this week or next.
You didn't mention, but do you need pure AS miles? Or are partner miles OK?
If not locked into AS, I'd just look for the cheapest DL/AA transcon fare. For example, you can fly DL to PHL on the red-eye Dec 11 and return Dec 12 for around $400. Total miles is around 5200 if you fly thru ATL on the way there.
Then next week do a RT to Oakland. You can do 17th for $158. With the double EQM promo that will net you around 2800. Be sure to
register first.
