I doubt that wanting a transit visa would be an urgent need in this situation. They would just tell you to do 72h TWOV (assuming you can ofc).
If you want to get a visa in advance, go for it (if you do, look into a multiple entry tourist visa which costs the same or close to the same as any single entry), but given the pretty good track record of TWOV I wouldn't bother.
Who said anything about transit visas? Anyone who goes to the trouble to get a visa should obviously shoot for a more useful variety.
