An intelligent, experienced bartender would have just put the order in as a bar order and a) asked you if you'd be willing to swing by the bar after checking in to pick up your food, or b) leave the food at the front desk. If you'd insisted upon having it sent to your room, the bartender could have found a bell person willing to run it up for a split of the expected tip.
